With the continuous cessation of Iranian bitumen exports to Turkey, which began in March last year due to the corona outbreak, exports of about 500,000 tons of bitumen, valued at $ 150 million annually, have been stagnant.

The export of about 500,000 tons of bitumen annually to Turkey and Georgia by bitumen production units, which are mainly located in northwestern Iran, has been stopped since March of last year even the export of Iranian bitumen to Georgia through Turkey has stopped during this period.

According to Mir Jalal Seyed Jalali, CEO of Negin Gam Pars and member of the board of directors of the East Azerbaijan Bitumen Association; Since last year, these units have not been able to export bitumen to Turkey and Georgia, and this issue has been left unattended.

Meanwhile, according to Iranian bitumen exporters, low-quality Iraqi bitumen is currently imported to Iran from the Iraqi region and then transited to Turkey through the Bazargan border in the shadow of subsidized Iranian diesel.

the purchase of bitumen from Iran and the transit of Iranian bitumen through Turkey is prohibited, Iranian exporters are the only ones who are not allowed to export to either Turkey or Georgia.

Some exporters of bitumen and bitumen production units in northwestern Iran say: Turkey wants the 2015 agreement on preferential tariffs to be implemented and this issue has led to the ban on Iranian bitumen entering Turkey with the spread of the coronavirus and the closure of borders.

Meanwhile, about 30 bitumen production units in East Azerbaijan, which exported about $ 10 million of bitumen to Turkey every year, have been stopped.

On the other hand, the purchase volume of the Tabriz refinery vacuum baton has also decreased for this reason, and a high tonnage of vacuum baton enters the matching system every week However, the pursuit of these bitumen units has remained fruitless and concerns about the unemployment of the workers of these companies have increased.

According to some managers of these companies In the past, the exchange rate of bitumen in East Azerbaijan used to cause the dollar rate in Tabriz market to always be about 100 tomans cheaper than the Tehran market.

However, with the cessation of bitumen exports, the dollar exchange rate has reached the level of the Tehran market, and despite their pursuit to the parliament and even the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it has remained fruitless and abandoned!
